Paul-Andre Chopard was faced with a difficult decision in 1963. He, unfortunately, could not find a successor for his company considering none of his sons was interested in the opportunity. During this time, he met Karl Scheufele, who was a descendant of a dynasty of traditional watchmakers and jewellers from Pforzheim, Germany. He decided to sell the company to Scheufele who agreed to continue the rich tradition of the Chopard family. Scheufele utilised his ingenious business skills and went on to lead the company to the forefront of the international watch and jewellery industry. Since 1985, the children of Karl Scheufele have taken over the management of the company.
