The field is set with two heavyweight chronograph juggernauts at the ready. The new Omega Speedmaster is primed to take on the Rolex Daytona. Does the Moonwatch now have what it takes to defeat the hypebeast darling? It was one week ago that the new Omega Speedmaster finally broke cover. Most of us had seen leaks the month before, but Omega still brought some refreshing surprises. As such, the responses were quite positive aside from a few concerns regarding pricing. The first meaningful changes in 25 years to one of the worlds most recognizable watches qualify as big news. However, once the dust settles and I see the specks before me on the desk questions begin to form.A meaningless, yet f [...]
Meet the new Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, with a new movement. The new Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch has the caliber 3861 Master Chronometer movement, a new case, dial, and case back. In this article, you read everything theres to know about the new Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch.I am super excited, as today is a very special (Speedy) Tuesday, as Omega announces its successor to the Speedmaster Moonwatch that has been in the collection since 1996. Bringing an update to an all-time classic needs to be done with care, and thats exactly what Omega did. They took their time and updated the bits and pieces that everyone felt needed an update (the bracelet comes to mind). Besides that, Omega included a [...]

You can read all about the new Moonwatch here. Rob and I decided to host a podcast on the new Moonwatch and answer some of the hottest questions weve read in the comments and on social media. [...]
In our Sunday Morning Showdown, two of our writers go head-to-head in an epic showdown for the ages. Strong opinions and hysterical hyperbole are welcome (so feel free to join in with the fun in the comments section below). And don't forget to let us know which watches you'd like to see torn to shreds/effusively exalted next week. We'll try and feature as many of our readers' choices as we can. After the last Bond match up, we return with a second one. One that matches up two lesser talked about Bond watches So lets rev up the Aston Martin once more and discuss the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond vs. Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra. It was only last week we had our inaugural Bond bust-up bet [...]
The Speedmaster First Omega in Space is now being discontinued. What makes the Speedmaster FOiS 311.32.40.30.01.001 so special and do you need to order one while you can?The word has been out for a while already: the Speedmaster FOiS is being phased out. Omega also confirmed to us that its over and done with. In a lot of countries, they are already sold out and not being restocked. In some countries, you might still be lucky to find one at an Omega boutique or an authorized dealer.Although I like the design and idea of the watch, I never felt a lot of excitement for the Speedmaster First Omega in Space. Mainly due to the sapphire crystal and the modern case back. The number of votes for this [...]
After the excitement of our Speedmaster World Cup, its time to get back into the groove of the Sunday Morning Showdowns. And this is quite a special one. For the final SMS of this year, two iconic Omega James Bond wristwatches go head-to-head.Well, that was a body blow. We waited five years since Spec [...]
Of course, over the course of 2020, Omega introduced more than three Speedmaster watches. However, the release calendar was significantly scaled back in comparison to previous years. It seems that Omega took the feedback on limited editions very seriously. In all honesty, I somewhat regret the fact that there was no limited edition Speedmaster Professional for 2020. I love the standard Moonwatch, but I also like to add some variation as I consider myself to be a collector of Speedmasters. A limited-edition is not a bad thing, but what is bad, is that there are people who just buy them to flip them immediately to make a quick buck. It drives up the prices, and just as bad takes the spot of som [...]
In this podcast, I talk with OMEGAs Mr. Andreas Hobmeier, Vice President of Production and Procurement, about Master Chronometer and the role of METAS. We speak about all the facets of Master Chronometer, and why precision and anti-magnetism is such an important topic.I recently had a wonderful conversation with Mr. Ansdreas Hobmeier, to which you can listen below, or use one of the many platforms out there. Our Fratello on Air podcast is available via Buzzsprout, Soundcloud, Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Deezer,? Stitcher, and Spotify. Below, you can also find an overview of what Master Chronometer is about, and the role METAS plays.Podcast with Andreas HobmeierMr. Andreas Hobmeier, Omegas [...]
So I won the Fratello Speedmaster World Cup 2020. Actually, I didnt win anything; it was the watch I was assigned to as custodian for this competitions length. Is it my merit that we came out first? I doubt it. It has to be the charm of the 321 Ed White. One thing is for sure; I have not written so much, so many times about one single watch than I did about the 321 Ed White. So this article will be my victory lap. Lets how a look at each piece now. Well pay tribute to my amazing teammates who took up the glove (and failed), one after the other ???Group E: Balazs and 321 Ed WhiteI presented my four Speedies pretty late in the World Cup, being in?Group E. More came after me, but more about them [...]
Well, what a massacre the Grand Final turned out to be Perhaps we should have had the Ed White ranked higher when we started the competition. Somehow, despite it clearly being beloved by the Speedy community, it feels like a bit of a dark horse winner. But Im all for dark horses the darker the better And this dark-dialed beauty finally put the dog to the sword, slaying the Snoopy most of us thought would winBut what did we?want to happen? Who did we?want to win? As the rounds progressed, we all threw our allegiance behind different survivors. Some of us championed the Alaska over the Tintin in that memorable back-and-forth quarter-final. A plucky one or two hopped on the seriously under-popu [...]
Wrist Game or Crying Shame is here with a look at yet another Omega. This time, we put the Omega Dynamic III to the test. But firstIt was tough sledding for last weeks TAG Heuer Kirium Formula 1. The neo-vintage ana-digi chronograph took a vintage Mike Tyson style beating with 73% voting this one to the scrap pile. The comments were absolutely savage and many of you recalled the days of fragrances such as Drakkar Noir and Davidoff (no, not those guys) Cool Water. Im going to go out on a limb and guess that todays Omega Dynamic III will fare much better. Whether it wins the Fratellis favor, will be up to you.The Omega Dynamic IIIThe Omega Dynamic series of watches have normally been reserved [...]
Woohoo The Speedmaster World Cup grand final is here The Speedmaster Calibre 321 Ed White versus the Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award 45th Anniversary edition. Limited production versus limited edition, an interesting battle, for sure. Here we are, the two major players in this Speedmaster World Cup Before we go head-to-head with the finalists, we would like to express our THANKS to all of you who voted. It has been a fantastic cup, full of surprises, controversy, and glorious victories.Speedmaster World Cup FinalsIn the left corner: The Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award 45th anniversary that was introduced in 2015 as a limited edition of only 1,970 pieces. A watch that made its mark in th [...]
We are approaching the end of a very awkward year, to say the least. No (Speedy Tuesday) events, no traveling, and no proper GTGs could be organized. Instead, weve been hosting a series of Speedmaster Stories from our readers and Speedmaster enthusiasts. This week, we feature TJs story about his Omega Speedmaster 3590.50.In his story, TJ talks about his youth and his first encounter with a Speedmaster. Only years later, he actually purchased his own Speedmaster Professional. It is interesting to read how he deals with the fact that the watch has received some replacement parts over the years during the mandatory services and repairs. Sure, it has a negative effect on the resale value of the [...]
As Christmas is getting closer every day, the annual rush to find a great present is about to begin. Of course, I buy a lot of socks (classic) but since I recently got into watches, I figured that my beloved husband deserves something classier than boring old stockings. No, this year, I have my heart set on a watch for him; not any watch but a watch that expresses appropriately how I feel about him. The only problem? He wants an Apple WatchSo, I am wondering if an Apple Watch can do the job of an emotionally loaded timepiece that symbolizes eternity, love, belonging, and family? Imagine him in about 50 years, in 2080, giving his grandchild a rather exceptional present for a birthday: the App [...]
Well, we finally made it to the last weekend of the Omega Speedmaster World Cup. What a ride its been. Weve seen surprise winners, remarkable comebacks, our fair share of voter fraud, and worthy watches left languishing in the group stages. The two watches that fell one step short, the Tintin and Snoopy III, now duke it out for your approval.Weve seen brutal character assassinations, indulged in well-worded arguments, and recoiled in disbelief as Mike failed three consecutive dope tests. Still, despite running the most sophisticated doping program since Lance Armstrongs USP team, Mikey couldnt propel his mighty Tintin into the Final. Instead, that pesky pooch from 2015 has marched on to face [...]
Wow. What a rollercoaster. There have been more back-and-forth tug-of-war contests in this World Cup than anyone saw coming. Thanks to thousands of voters, though, we now have our finalists locked and loaded and ready to roll. The Omega Speedmaster World Cup is just 7 days away from its conclusion and we need YOU to help us decide a winner. When this World Cup began, I had high hopes for the format. Sports tournaments are real annual highlights for me and, in the absence of Euro 2020, I wanted to create something similar but with watches. We settled upon Speedmasters as a team, and what a choice that turned out to be!We all had our favorites, but we didnt necessarily get to argue for them (in [...]
I have covered the Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo XI Moonshine more than once here. That includes a long-term review on the watch after exactly a year of ownership. But never before I did an article on the bracelet alone. Here we are though: Meet the Nixon bracelet review. The bracelet of the Speedmaster Professional Apollo XI Moonshine deserves its own article. It is that good, in my opinion. And, to be frank, I didnt expect it to be this good. The specifications didnt lie about the small clasp (14mm)? and got me a bit worried at first. The Speedmaster Nixon BraceletBut boy was I worried for nothing. I mean, it is not everyday one spends the amount of a nice car on one watch. It was ev [...]
Well, well, well. None of us saw this coming. The Omega Speedmaster World Cup has reached the incredibly sharp end of the competition. By this point, we expected to have just four contenders still standing. However, a neck-and-neck contest ultimately marred by voting irregularities in Quarter-Final 4 (between the Speedy Tuesday 1 and the Silver Snoopy 50th Anniversary) saw both watches qualify in a magnanimous dead heat. They join the easy winner of Quarter Final 3, the Ed White 321, championed by Balazs. And so, rather unexpectedly, it is time for you to pick between your favorite of three for the second slot in next weeks finalWe alluded to the issue of voter fraud in Thursdays Semi-Final [...]
Here is the first round this weekend on the Speedmaster World Cup Semi-Finals. In the quarter-finals, we saw the Speedmaster Snoopy 2015, the Tintin ultimately dominate their match-ups for the win. Some groups had clear winners, others showed a proper fight. In the Semi-Final 1, we will see a battle between the reporter and adventurer Tintin and NASAs watchdog Snoopy. Both cartoon characters, but with the difference that one didnt make it on the watch due to a tough crowd that watches over Herg s heritage and one that did make it to the watch, Snoopy. In the latter case, the cartoonist Charles M. Schulz that came up with Snoopy was a big supporter of NASAs race for the Moon. He officially let [...]
Yall hold onto your hats, now. This thing just got stormy. We are racing towards the Quarter-Final voting deadline (MIDNIGHT CET TONIGHT, December 3rd). Our predictions are beaten, battered, and bruised. Ultimately, we came pretty close to calling how this would go but there were some disgustingly unforeseen bumps in the road of this, the latest round of the Omega Speedmaster World CupSo how did your favorites fare? Two of the four Quarter-Finals were one-sided affairs (as wed imagined they would be), but despite that, huge numbers turned out to vote for the losers. Despite not progressing, the FOiS and the Apollo XI 45th Anniversary model have their followers.the overall favoritesIn fact, t [...]
